NA and PAL to Support Each Other

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Nepal Academy (NA) and Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) on 13th May 2018 in Kathmandu.

Ganga Prasad Uprety, the Chancellor of NA and Rashid Hameed, the Director General of PAL signed the MOU. The objective of signing MOU is to broaden the relationship between the people of both countries through supporting for the literary development of each other. As per the agreement, both of the parties will arrange the training and visit programs for the writers, poets, sociologist and the researchers of another country. Both parties agreed to translate the Literature of each other and publish the significant books written by the scholars of another country. In addition, NA and PAL will jointly organize the book festivals, seminars and conferences in coming days.

Speaking in the program Mazhar Javed, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal stated that the old historical and religious monuments in Nepal prove the relation between Nepal and Pakistan is very long. Also, he expressed the commitment to provide physical and financial support to the Nepalese scholars to do the research in that topic.

Hameed, Director General of PAL told that the MOU was signed in order to unite the people of Nepal and Pakistan through the development of language and literature of both countries. Uprety, the Chancellor of NA told he was assured that this agreement would create the milestone for the promotion of language and literature of both countries.

Dr. Bishnu Bibhu Ghimire, the Vice Chancellor of Nepal Academy spoke that the MOU created enough space for the dialogue between the scholars of both countries for the common interest.

After signing MOU, Chancellor Uprety and Director General Hameed spoke about the literature of their own country in the second session of the program which was chaired by Professor Dr. Triratna Manandhar. In that program, Bharat Mani Subedi, the joint secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal and Naushad Khalique, the Member of Pakisatani Delegates spoke about the culture of their own country.

Prof. Dr. Jivendra Deo Giri, the Member Secretary of NA gave the vote of thanks and concluded the program.
